If you were to describe it in a word or two, what would it be? Peaceful ? Orderly? Disorganized & chaotic? Messy? Open & welcoming? How would you compare your home to the life you lead? Our environments are often the exterior reflections of our interior worlds. No matter what place you call a home, the very word strikes a chord deep inside each of us. Home means sanctuary, the place we can rest, relax, enjoy time with friends, learn, grow … and just be yourself. Today, average home costs have risen faster than wages in the past few years. Meanwhile, average cost for homes across India has gone very high, making it impossible for an average earning citizen to save the money for it. In India, due to cultural differences & presence of nuclear families migration to urban areas have become important so as the investment in a house which resulted in higher demands. Looking at these conditions, state governments in India have taken initiatives so that Economically Weaker Section (EWS) and Lower Income Group (LIG) can achieve their dreams of owning a home. Also Central Government of India has taken initiatives (Pradhan Mantri Awaas Yojana) & allotted the finances to all the states towards affordable housing schemes. Chhattisgarh is one of the state which has introduced affordable housing scheme with the motto to facilitate “House for all”. Chhattisgarh Housing Board (CGHB) was constituted in February 2004 under the Chhattisgarh Housing Board Act 1972. Providing housing facility to the people of economically weaker section and lower income group on subsidized rates is the priority to CGHB. Today, with the dedicated efforts of providing housing facility with necessary infrastructure to the homeless/needy citizens of state at an affordable price has made Chhattisgarh a unique state in India.
