Affiliate Marketing vs Network Marketing Hi my name is Ben Newcomb and I have been online for about 3 years promoting various different things from, real estate investing education to travel to coffee. I got into online marketing when the real estate investing education that I was promoting offline decided to bring in an internet marketer to show everyone in our company exactly how internet marketing is done. Learn more at BenjaminNewcomb.com Straight out of the gate I was getting to the first page of Google with this guy’s teachings and ever since then I have been making various amounts of money online. I noticed something very interesting recently in my online pursuits. One of the internet marketing gurus that I follow said something that wasn’t real nice about the network marketing community. He basically said that you recruit people who recruit people who recruit people who sell a product and that he was against this type of thing and that is why I am making this video. Here is the thing that I find interesting about this statement. The big gurus all use affiliates to promote their products and they pay each of their affiliates a fee every time they sell something for the guru. Network marketing companies do the exact same thing. No one makes a dime in a network marketing company until a product is sold, period. Learn more at BenjaminNewcomb.com So let’s look at the guru The guru builds a sales team called affiliates that go out and sell a product for the guru. The affiliates who sell the product get paid. The people who do not sell anything don’t get paid. The new customer is now offered a chance to become an affiliate of the guru’s product in most cases. If the new affiliate decides to become an affiliate of the product they will get paid for producing a result. And the guru gets paid for their product sale as well. But what about the guy who brought the new customer and now new affiliate to the guru? He is cut out of the deal completely. In network marketing the person who brought the new affiliate in would still get a piece of the sale that the new network marketer made. Learn more at BenjaminNewcomb.com Gurus simply keep the money that could have gone to the original referring affiliate for themselves. Other than that an affiliate product offer and a network marketing company are the exact same damn thing. A sales person out in the world selling products to make money.

A simple retail sale. I personally think the emphasis on recruiting in network marketing is too high but it is what allows reps to leverage their time and money to make more money in network marketing. I would be happy as a network marketer to have 100 new people become my customer and not have a single person join my team. Because I get paid on making sales…not recruiting people. It is very easy to determine what a legit network marketing company is. Look to see: Do they have a product that can be sold for a simple retail sale? For example I sell coffee. Coffee gets sold I make cash. Other people decide they want to sell coffee then I get a bit of cash when they sell some of the coffee. Seems fair, right? Learn more at BenjaminNewcomb.com They sell some coffee and since I helped them become an affiliate of the company I get a piece of their sale too. In the affiliate marketing world the same money would be generated but the company would just cut out the guy who helped the second affiliate get started and keep the cash for themselves. So next time you hear a guru talking bad about network marketing remind them they do the exact same thing through their affiliate programs but they cut out the nice guy who brought their other affiliates in. and that their programs aren’t leveraged to help anyone but themselves.
