1.0 ANALYSIS 1.1 Introduction Rapid development of Information and Communication Technology have shape our future beyond our imagination; many work done by human are now being replace by computer. Our everyday life has been affected greatly due to the introduction of the new technology in communication such as the introduction of 4G that will replace the current 3G technology we have today. Connecting with friends and love ones is made easier as more social networks has been develop and being use by people around the world such as facebook. In education sector, the wave caused by ICT have shape the school development. Nowadays, schools begining to develop systems to replace the old manual way of documentation and switching it to automated office. 1.2 Problems Statement In schools, most of the management that involved huge amount of data is still using the traditional ways of doing their management. In this research, Tawau Community College has been selected. Base on the research conducted earlier, there is no computer system found in Tawau Community College to record the student disciplines. Hence, the list of student that have discipline record will take time to produce. Whenever parents come to the college regarding their children disciplines, they will have to wait for period of time for the college to give them the report. Students with bad disipline record are not allowed to have their allowance and must attend a counseling session with the counseling officer. Tawau Community College is facing problem to make this thing happen because lack of complete discipline data and communication among the departments. The formal manual design of the discipline report form is asking to many personnel details about the student rather than what charges is being made against the student. Due to the design of the report form, many lecturer 3

found it taking too much time to fill up the form and personnel details is required just to file one record. As a result, the process of recording the discipline data is neglected by lecturer because they think it such a waste of time. Based on this problem, a system called “Students E-Data Management System” will be develope to overcome this problem. 4

2.5 Graphical User Interface In this phase of design, the development of the system user interface design must be user friendly and easy to use for the end user. 3.0 DEVELOPEMENT Because microsoft made it easy for just about anyone to learn how to work with databases by replacing some of the complicated work with easy-to-use templates, this development will use microsoft access database to develope a database to be use by the system. The system design and functionality will be develop using Visual Studio 2010 with VB.NET as the core programming langguage. The reason using Visual studio 2010 as the main platform to develop the functionality and desgin is because project maintenance in visual studio is more efficient and the features that allow developer to create an installation package for the system to be deploy in production enviroments help developers to protect their source code. Visual Studio also allow developers to integrate third party controls component into thier project that provides developer with wide range of choices for the system graphical user interface design. Because VB.NET is an object oriented programming langguage, the ability to reuse existing functionality will greatly boost the development time speed. The reporting service will be develope using crystal report 2010. Cyrstal reports can read data from a dataset or xmlschema can help developers to create thier own report design and send the data via dataset or xmlschema. 18

4.0 IMPLEMENTATION In implementation phase, the process of getting data for Student E-Data Management System is done by importing existing database: i) Import data from other system database In this step, user can download existing student data from an on-line system called IDBMS. Student E-Data Management System have the ability to import existing data from the downloaded in IDBMS. 19

5.0 EVALUATION In this project, formative evaluation is use to develop Student E-Data Management System. Each phase invlove of gathering data from user and based on the data, improvements and adjusting are made base on the user requirement until the end of development of this system. This is to improve the effectiveness of this system. 20
