A Review of Clones The first 26650 mechanical mod was a Black Stingray clone. It was so big, it actually turned me off of wanting to get any 26650 device. I asked for advice from experienced modders, after being requested by about ten different people to review a 26650 device. Overwhelmingly, the response was the Hades clone. The company was kind enough to supply the unit shown at the right. The Hades is quite a bit smaller compared to the Stingray, quite a bit. At the top, the Hades is 28.5 mm (1.12 in.) in diameter. You should notice that the Hades has not is narrower at the bottom. I originally thought this a bit strange, but it does keep the total size down and make it more comfortable in the hand. At the underside, the diameter is 31 mm (1.22 in.). I was a bit surprised at the height. It isn't as tall as I anticipated, at only 97.8 mm (3.85 in.). Without a battery the Hades weighs 250 g (0.55 lbs.). This is a clone. I have no idea who the maker is. The box that the Hades came in is a box that is nice - but that is all you get with this special one. Nothing else, no guide, nothing but a shaped foam add that the Hades clone fits into. This unit definitely is affordable at less than 1/4 the price of its inspiration. On the first, however, I was disappointed. It didn't work. It's a mechanical device - How can it NOT work?? It's difficult to see in a low resolution internet graphic ... at the right, if you take a look at the holes, you'll see part of the difficulty. The drilling artifacts cleaned or weren't removed. The holes have metal shards and sharp alloy still and protruding out the back (in the battery tube area). Additionally focus near the holes inside. See that glossy area near the back hole on the inside of the tube? That is additional metal that had not been removed, and it's right beside metal sticking out of the hole which is an artifact of drilling the hole. What this signifies is that Hades Mod Review I was unable to fit the battery in the tube. I didn't think of checking the inside of the tube before attempting to install the battery. I still could not get the battery outer plastic in and ended up ripping it protective sleeve. The quality control isn't, although for a clone, the apparatus appears great. Someone should have found the bare inner tube. Nevertheless, it's also fairly affordable and I didn't mind cleaning up this problem that is small. It only took about three minutes to file the protruding metal down, clean out the holes and sand the interior of the tube so it would be fine and smooth. The battery is a great fit and slides in nicely without slop, after getting that done.
