Before 2006-2007 isep  A long time ago (1985-1997) – Undergraduate degree only until 1991 – Two graduate degrees since 1991 – All degrees with capstone project at the end – Training and development (T&D) oriented – Highly motivated and focused students – Appropriate student mentoring and tutoring – From 30 new students/year in 1985-1986 – To 75 new students/year in 1996-1997 14-12-08 CDIO Porto 2007 3

Short term future isep  LEI Syllabus (Bologna 1st cycle) – Gather opinions about LEI-Syllabus (ongoing) – Analyse and produce the LEI-Syllabus v0.1 – Disseminate between other stakeholders, gather opinions and produce LEI-Syllabus v1.0 • To be finished during 2007-2008 – Use the LEI-Syllabus to make curricular, pedagogical and operacional adjustements • To be applied to LEI in 2008-2009 • Evaluate and assess adjustement impacts 14-12-08 CDIO Porto 2007 11

Mid term future isep  Prospective future students – 18-19 years old people • The most technological savvy group ever existed • Able to use cell phones, iPods, text messaging, instant messaging, social networking, video, games • Permanent interactivity everywhere/everytime – Older people (>23 years old) • Lacking scientific background (math and physics) • Mostly with a practical approach to life • Inductive thinkers more than logic-deductive ones 14-12-08 CDIO Porto 2007 12
