Slide2:  Christingle 2002 Slide4:  “I am the light of the world” Slide5:  Glad you could make it here Slide6:  This Child, secretly comes in the night, Oh this Child, hiding a heavenly light, Oh this Child, coming to us like a stranger, This heavenly Child. This Child, heaven come down now to be with us here, Heavenly love and mercy appear, Softly in awe and wonder come near - To this heavenly Child. Slide7:  This Child, rising on us like the sun, Oh this Child, given to light everyone, Oh this Child, guiding our feet on the pathway To peace on earth This Child, heaven comes down now to be with us here, Heavenly love and mercy appear, Softly in awe and wonder come near - To this heavenly Child This Child, raising the humble and poor, Oh this Child, making the proud ones to fall; This Child, filling the hungry with good things, This heavenly Child Slide8:  Luke Chapter 2 Verses 1-7 About that time Caesar Augustus ordered a census to be taken throughout the Empire. This was the first census when Quirinius was governor of Syria. Everyone had to travel to his own ancestral hometown to be accounted for. So Joseph went from the Galilean town of Nazareth up to Bethlehem in Judah, David’s town, for the census. As a descendant of David, he had to go there. He went with Mary, his fiancée, who was pregnant. While they were there, the time came for her to give birth. She gave birth to a son, her first born. She wrapped him in a blanket and laid him in a manger, because there was no room in the inn. Slide9:  Away in a manger, no crib for a bed The little Lord Jesus laid down His sweet head. The stars in the bright sky looked down where he lay. The little Lord Jesus asleep on the hay. The cattle are lowing, the baby awakes. But little Lord Jesus no crying He makes. I love You Lord Jesus! Look down from the sky, And stay by my side until morning is nigh. Be near me, Lord Jesus; I ask You to stay Close by me for ever and love me, I pray. Bless all the dear children in Your tender care, And fit us for Heaven to live with Slide10:  See Him lying on a bed of straw: A draughty stable with an open door; Mary cradling the babe she bore- The Prince of glory is His name. O now carry me to Bethlehem To see the Lord appear to men! Just as poor as was the stable then. The Prince of glory when He came. Star of silver, sweep across the skies, Show where Jesus in the manger lies; shepherds swiftly from your stupor rise To see the Saviour of the world! Slide11:  Angels, sing the song that you began, Bring God’s glory to the heart of man; Sing that Bethl’em’s little baby can Be salvation to the soul. O now carry me to Bethlehem To see the Lord appear to men! Just as poor as was the stable then. The Prince of glory when He came. Slide12:  Let there be joy, let there be peace, Let there be power, let there be praise. Let there be joy, joy in the Holy Ghost. It was for freedom that we were set free, Let ev’ry mountain be cast to the sea. Let there be joy, joy in the Holy Ghost. We will declare it to the heavens, The righteousness of God in which we stand. We will proclaim to the nations; Ev’ry eye shall see, ev’ry ear shall hear, Ev’ry heart will understand. Slide13:  The orange is to remind us of the world that God created. God asked mankind to look after the world and care for his creation. Slide14:  The ribbon red represents God’s love reaching all around the world for all mankind and Jesus blood shed to save the world. Jesus is God’s present to all of us. Slide15:  The 4 sticks remind us of the seasons of the year and that it is God that provides everything for us. The nuts, fruits and sweets remind us that God provides us with good things to eat. Slide16:  The candle reminds us that Jesus is the light of the world. “Jesus is the source of life, and this life has brought light to mankind. The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness has never put it out.” John 1:4-5 Slide17:  Silent night, holy night. All is calm, all is bright, round you virgin mother and child; holy infant so tender and mild: sleep in heavenly peace, sleep in heavenly peace. Silent night, holy night. Send your blessing on all your children; be with those who are unhappy and feel that no one cares about them and guard those in danger on our streets. Jesus, light of the world: Shine in the darkness. Dear Lord, we thank you for our schools and our teachers; for our friends and the games that we play and the chance to learn new things. Bless and guide all children who are not able to join in or who feel left out. Jesus, light of the world: Shine in the darkness. Slide22:  Creator God, you made the world and all that is in it, thank you for the food you give us to enjoy, to make us grow and to give us energy. Help all the babies and children who don't get enough to eat and be with those who worry about them and work to care for them. Jesus, light of the world: Shine in the darkness. Dear Lord God, thank you for sending your Son Jesus to tell us that you love every one of us. Thank you for those people and things that help me to understand your love. Help me and The Children's Society to tell other children that you love them by all that we say and do. Jesus, light of the world: Shine in the darkness. Slide23:  O come, all ye faithful, joyful and triumphant, O come ye, o come ye to Bethlehem; Come and behold Him, Born the King of angels: O come let us adore Him, O come let us adore Him, O come let us adore Him, Christ the Lord. God of God, light of light, Lo, He abhors not the Virgin’s womb; Very God, begotten, not created: O come let us adore Him...
