Josh Klein is the quintessential hacker - a cross-disciplinary, pattern recognizing polymath who takes his greatest joy from combining the unexpected and seeing the result work in new and better ways.

Josh has practiced and was trained, both formally and informally, in hacking - social systems, computer networks, institutions, consumer hardware, animal behavior, and, most recently, the publishing industry. When he's not taking things apart or putting them back together again he speaks, writes, and consults on new and emerging technologies that improve people's lives - and has tremendous fun doing it.

Most of Josh's time is spent speaking to companies and at conferences such as World Economic Forum's annual meeting in Davos, Gadgetoff, TED, SICS, LA-IP, BIF, and Serious Play. He's had a hit tv series on The National Geographic Channel called The Link, about the history of innovation, on has appeared on the Sundance Channel, Nova, and other programs. He also spends a significant amount of time consulting to companies large and small, such as Microsoft, Oracle, Frog Design, Nokia, Johns Hopkins, The United States Office of the Director of National Intelligence, and others.

we help you discover smarter ways to think, grow, and live.

This presentation consists of 10 highlights from the interview with Moe Abdou, founder & host of 33voices®.

1 Your reputation is more scalable and more valuable than ever before. Build, protect, and leverage it.

2 Just like checking yourself out in the mirror, it’s wise to Google yourself frequently.

3 Build your reputation capital by providing evidence you’re a good person. Participate with large online communities, authentically.

4 If something online is free, you are not the customer, you are the product.

5 In some respect, your reputation exceeds your financial methods. Seek to constantly build on your means of exchange.

6 65.7% of humans still aren’t online, but they’re about to be. How will they do commerce?

7 When you take a hit to your personal brand, don’t pretend it didn’t happen. The more you try to prevent it, the more people hear about it - and it’s almost impossible to recover from being a liar.

8 When it comes to brand reputation management, learn from Airbnb: “Home tragically vandalized by a guest” http://blog.airbnb.com/our-commitment-to-trust-and-safety/

9 When hiring, use all online resources possible! If someone is under 60 and has very little online info, you should be skeptical.

10 We’re starting to see advantages of crypto-currencies. Just like Napster initiated the new normal for the music industry, Bitcoin will be setting the terms for the future of currency.

REALLY REFLECT What comes up when you Google yourself?
