KOMPETENSI YANG DICAPAI  Mampu memahami ruang lingkup kajian Teknologi Informasi dan Komunikasi.  Memahami dan menggunakan konsep-konsep yang ada dalam Teknologi Informasi dan Komunikasi untuk menganalisa dampaknya pada masyarakat Indonesia terutama yang berhubungan dengan iklim komunikasi.  Mampu memahami dan mempraktikkan pemanfaatan Teknologi Informasi dan Komunikasi yang etis dan benar dalam bidang Ilmu Komunikasi.

WHAT IS TECHNOLOGY ? Technology is a design for instrumental action that reduces the uncertainty in the cause-effect relationships involved in archieving a desired outcome (Rogers, 1983, p12)

TECHNOLOGY ASPECTS “A technology usually has both a hardware aspect (consisting of material or physical objects) and software aspect (consisting of information base for hardware) who operated by human” (Rogers, 1983, p 1)

TECHNOLOGY DETERMINISM “The degree to which a technology is main cause of social changes in a society” (Rogers, 1983, p 23)

“Communication technology is the hardware equipment, organizational structures, and social values by which individual collect, process, and exchange information with other individual.” (Rogers, 1983 p 2) Technology change has placed communication on the front lines of social revolutions (Paisley, 1985, p 34)

“The Information Revolution is causing a scientific revolution in communication research.” (Rogers, 1983, p 9)
